100 Day Write A Riff Challenge

By | Guitar | No Comments

It’s winter. You broke off your engagement and your life is in pieces. Why not try an insane regime of writing/practicing/recording a new riff every day for… A hundred days? This was an impulsive decision that I’m very happy I went trough with.

The rule: Write a riff or a musical phrase that can be looped every day for 100 days.

There were days when this was easy. But there were days when inspiration eludes you and I felt like I never held a guitar in my arms. I won’t lie, this was hard. Pushing yourself to be creative no matter what and no matter how you feel.
It was incredibly rewarding though. I learned a lot and will probably share some key insights in approaching this problem in future posts.

Guitar Cover: Children of Bodom – Silent Night, Bodom Night

Children of Bodom is one of my favorite bands of all times. Alexi was and still is one of the main inspirations to really pick up on lead playing.
The only backing track is the drums to ensure a ruthless, unforgiving environment. Playing over an entire song is basically cheating. This is not the case here.

We’ve got an amazing dude on the second guitar, my good friend Mr. Jovo Ceprnic, good job dude. \m/
